Some unfamiliar facts about Nokia

The "Special" tone available to users of Nokia phones when receiving SMS (text messages) is actually Morse code for "SMS". Similarly, the "Ascending" SMS tone is Morse code for "Connecting People," Nokia's slogan.

The ringtone "Nokia Tune" (probably the world's most well-known ringtone) is actually based on a 19th-century guitar work named "Gran Vals" by Spanish musician Francisco Tárrega. The Nokia Tune was originally named "Gran Vals" on Nokia phones but was changed to "Nokia Tune" around 1998 when it became so well known that people referred to it as the Nokia Tune.

Nokia is sometimes called aikon (Nokia backwards) by non-Nokia mobile phone users and by mobile software developers, because "aikon" is used in various SDK software packages, including Nokia's own Symbian Series 60 SDK.

Nokia is a town and municipality of Finland on the banks of a river named Emäkoski where the population is about 29,000.

Nokia Corporation was established in 1865 as a wood-pulp mill by Finland -Swede Knut Fredrik Idestam on the banks of that River.

I was in a Martial Wedding

Last afternoon I attended to a somewhat unique wedding ceremony at Galleface hotel, the groom was the elder brother of one of my best friends. It was a total martial wedding. The function was full of swords, gold and silver badges, various kinds of uniforms, hats, military bands and all.

The groom is a Captain of Sri Lanka Army while the bride also is a high rank in Sri Lanka Navy (commissioned officer). Both the bride and groom have graduated from Kothalawala Defense Academy, the affair has started while they were in the academy. So not only Army and Navy, people from all three armed forces and even from Police were there coz the groom’s dad is a senior officer in the Police.

Like when techie ppl gossip technical jargons when they get together, all these soldiers were chatting abt their badges, awards, missions participated likewise. Interesting to be there and I wish all the Luck for this all new military couple! Congrats Brother!

Well, I found my category. They called us lactovegetarians….

There are several categories of vegetarians, all of whom avoid meat and/or animal products. The vegan or total vegetarian diet includes only foods from plants: fruits, vegetables, legumes (dried beans and peas), grains, seeds, and nuts. The lactovegetarian diet includes plant foods plus cheese and other dairy products. The ovo-lactovegetarian (or lacto-ovovege-tarian) diet also includes eggs. Semi-vegetarians do not eat red meat but include chicken and fish with plant foods, dairy products, and eggs.

It has been exactly one month since I have refrained from eating flesh, for today. Now and then I feel like I need not to be a total vege, but again mind changes. Anyway my test run is over and it was perfect. And now the application is live.

How Important a Slogan for a Nation

We had a brainstorming session at office today. Out of all, there is one imperative thought I have grabbed throughout the session.

There are two words, which can topple any Indian, “Jai Hind”, doesn’t matter who the person is, though he is a professor or a beggar in a street, every Indian is motivated from these two words. It’s powerful enough to devastate even another nation.

Like wise, Pakistanis say “Pakistan Zindabadh”
British say “Long live the King/Queen”
American say “God Bless America”

And Sri Lankans say “ Mahindata Jaya Wewa”

We are lacking form a feeling for the country, spirit of one nation….

Google PC

A news report says the search-engine company has been chatting with Wal-Mart and others to sell a computer that would run a Google-developed operating system, not Microsoft's Windows.

It further says, Larry Page, co-founder of Google could use his scheduled Friday keynote at the Consumer Electronics Shows in Las Vegas to either unveil a Google computer or announce a deal with a major retailer to sell what would be a low-priced machine.

The Google PC could turn out to be a key support mechanism for Google’s various online services. It’s highly likely that the PC won’t emphasize a high-powered CPU and tons of storage. Rather, will rely on Google Web apps for both functionality and storage.
